Welcome to Croatian Art Month

In our "Mobility of Local Art Values" project, we work on the local art values of a country every month. For November, we are visiting one of the most beautiful countries in the Balkans: Croatia! In "Croatia Art Month", we are working on the art of "Kravata".

CROATİA

Croatia is a very important European country located at the confluence of the Balkans, Central Europe and the Mediterranean. Serbia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and the Adriatic Sea constitute the neighboring countries of Croatia. The Croatian islands, which are over 1000, are important data on the geography of Croatia. While only about 50 of the Croatian islands are inhabited, Cres and Krk are the two largest islands of the country. Sava, Drava, Kupa and Danube rivers are the important rivers of Croatia. Especially the Danube river is of vital importance for the territory of Croatia, while at the same time it is the 2nd longest river in Europe. Croatian lakes, on the other hand, form an extremely important image for the Croatian panorama. Pliturce lake, which consists of 16 lakes and waterfalls, is rarely seen among Croatian lakes.

KRAVATA(TİE) ART
The tie is part of the Croatian tradition and a Croatian invention. The tie was the theme of November, which was declared "Croatian Art Month". Together with our students, we both got to know Croatia and performed the art of "Tie".
As part of Croatian military uniform, in the 17th century, the tie spread all over Europe.
October 18th was declared Tie Day. At October18th 2003. arena in the citty Pula was wrapped in the largest tie in the world.808 m long, and 25 m wide. It was an art instalation by Marijan Bušić.
